Fire management at Lassen Volcanic National Park
We took our Wildland Fire Module to Lassen Volcanic National Park in August for a wildland fire for resource benefit (1600 acres when it was all said and done). The fire was located in the wilderness and, as such, many of the traditional fire tools were not allowed. Our ten-person module utilized the large volume backpacks to haul in everything we would need for a 14-day assignment in the backcountry. That included food for seven days, bivy sacks, sleeping bags, EMT equipment, clothing, fire management gear (45 lbs worth), and items like chainsaws, chainsaw fuel and oil, and hi-tech equipment. The average pack weighed 80 lbs and some spiked at nearly 95 lbs. We hiked in six miles to our base camp at Lower Twin Lake at Lassen NP. When that much gear is necessary and expectations are to stay in the bush for 14 days and be self-sufficient, you look to cut corners anywhere you can with regards to weight. Your Jetboil systems allowed us to do that. We cooked in pairs and the freeze dried food we took in allowed us to make it the entire duration. The cooking is quick and easy - and the fellas loved it! Your stoves allow us the luxury of implementing such a strategy, which keeps impact to our wilderness minimal and ultimately keeps total cost on any given fire substantially lower than when helicopters and other medians are used. Thank you so much for your support! Matt Dutton Fire Operations Specialist Rocky Mountain National Park
A military Thanks!
I have had my Jetboil PCS for about 18 months and love it! I am currently deployed in Northern Iraq and with the weather getting cooler and the rain that comes with it, my Jetboil is a HUGE morale booster. On any given morning, I cook up 6-8 pots of water for oatmeal, Ramen and coffee. My platoon mates liked it enough that three of them recently purchased their own. I have been an avid backpacker for about 25yrs and own and use roughly 5 different stoves. I doubt I will be using them much more. Thanks for a great product! Strong support for Jetboil
I have been carrying my Jetboil PCS in my pack for a few years now and it has been used from everything from car camping in VT to overnighting in NH to highpointing in WY to a winter expedition in ME. It has never failed to produce and it's ease of use is unparalleled. With the accessories such as the base stand and pot holder, it is perfect for doubling as a backpacking stove. On yesterday's trip into the White Mtns to hit Galehead and the Twins, me and two friends and our dogs stopped to have tea and pay homage to the greatness of the Jetboil. If this system ever dies, I will certainly buy another PCS or Flash. You guys rock. - Nate Strong
Backcountry snowboarder relies on Jetboil
"Jetboil's PCS is my go-to backcountry meal-maker and hydration machine. It's my lifeline when I'm cold, wet, and hungry. I use it to boil water in a flash... even in rain, sleet and wind!" -Kyle Miller

Perfect for paddling
My Jetboil PCS and GCS are the perfect cook systems for my kayak and canoe expeditions; light, fast and efficient. There's nothing like Jetboiling up coffee in the canoe while floating on a lake! The Jetboil PCS fits perfectly in the waterbottle holder of my creek boat. - Jon "Shaggy" McLaughlin

Jetboil on Mount Meru
Jetboils have been integral to the success of many trips now and has, in several case, been integral to my survival high in the mountains. The product is well designed and has significantly reduced the amount of fuel and weight I need to carry on my climbs. Thank you! -Photographer Jimmy Chin (Mt. Meru expedition 2009)
Happy hunter
I would like to thank you for building such a great product! I purchased a Jetboil PCS for my Sept 2009 Mountain Goat hunt. I was hunting with my brother on Kodiak Island, Alaska. When hunting Goats weight is an issue. When packing off the mountain each of us had packs in 130-140 pound range. We each had a Jetboil PCS. It was easy to use, fast and worked every time in the wind and rain. One 100 gram bottle of fuel cooked all my food for six days. The system being self contained in the cooking cup was a eureka idea!! This unit is now part of every trip I make, whether it be a one day trip or multi-day trip. - Will Parks
Helios is chocolate-worthy
REI upgrades annual Twinkie Roast with the addition of Helios systems. Ingredients: Twinkies or other tubular, filled snack cake, chocolate bars or chips Technique: place an inch of water in Helios pot. Place chocolate in heat-resistant bowl and place in Helios pot. heat on low flame, while stirring. This double-boiler strategy works great for cheese fondue, as well.
Jetboil conversion in Glacier National Park
I wanted to share with you my experience from a recent backcountry camping trip at Glacier NP. I led a group of six guys, including myself on a nine-day backcountry camping trip over 80 miles along the Northern Circle in Glacier NP. Two of us, myself and a buddy, have used the Jetboil to great success for the last two years. The other four used open flame, collapsible stoves. The weather was fantastic during our trip, but was pretty windy on at least three days. The Jetboil performed great getting water ready within a couple of minutes. The balance of our crew was using up their fuel supply quickly taking 5-6 minutes in the wind to get boiling. It only took a couple of days for everyone to ask “can I borrow your Jetboil”. By the end of the trip the four non-users were converted and will be getting a Jetboil. Thanks for making a great product! Mike Lancioni
Disaster relief in Pakistan
I first encountered Jetboil products getting gear for an upcoming volunteer medical Disaster Relief mission to Pakistan with the group NYCMedics to build a field hospital and deploy shelters after the massive earthquakes in the area. I brought along the Jetboil PCS and a few canisters, not knowing totally what I was going to encounter. It worked incredibly! I used it to boil water for my Nalgene bottle to keep warm at night in my sleeping bag and then drink as cooler/safer water the next day, to make coffee with the French press adapter, and to make hot meals from dehydrated food. I ended up using it for 5 other people on the trip as well. I’ve attached some photos for you of our trip. I’ve since brought it along with me to other areas of the world as well, namely Kenya and Nigeria on similar work. I’ve brought it on family camping trips and have used it at the house when the power has gone out, too. My wife and I just began Kayaking and are on our first trip, sans kids, and so it means less stuff we have to bring. Thanks so much for this product, it’s absolutely fantastic – I can’t wait to see what you guys have out next, or where I’m going to use it. - David Violante
