Motorcyle Touring

- I am not what anyone would regard as an avid camping enthusiast; I go camping only a few times a year. When I do go, I like to have the latest and best gear in order to ‘soften’ the shock of leaving the comfort of everyday life. On my latest adventure, an off-road motorcycle camping trip to Death Valley, I took along my new Jetboil. While my friends were at first skeptical (I’m always spending money on trendy but ultimately useless gadgets), after no more than a few demonstrations, everyone in my group was absolutely wild over the Jetboil. In the morning, I was already enjoying hot coffee while they were still waiting for their water to get warm! Same thing at night with our Mountain House dinners. Before my friends’ water is boiling, I’m already burping! This really is a great system for the modern outdoors, and I commend you all on its efficiency of design and execution.
- Joe…a long distance rider,
- I started out with the GCS prior to my latest long distance motorcycle
adventure. I then decided that I couldn’t live without coffee in the
morning so I added a companion cup and coffee press.
My riding buddy brought his white gas stove but after I prepared my
first meal on the GCS his stove didn’t come out again. I prepared several meals that required from a full boil to low simmer. The stove was up to the task. We went 5 days on the road using the stove every morning for coffee and at night for whatever culinary delight we had picked up during the day and still have fuel left over in the container. I have now rethought my ability to cook on the road. It is so quick that lunch on the road can now be hot, and not from the road side diner!
